ISO 50001

ISO 50001:2011 is an internationally recognized standard established for employing, preserving and improving energy management system. The ISO 5001 Jeddah system works on the methodological approach making continuous efforts for effective utilization of energy performance incorporating three major aspects of energy efficiency, usage and its consumptions.

The ISO 50001:2011 is one of the latest certification standards created for energy management system (EnMS). It provides a framework which provides guidelines for best practices that improve the organization's energy efficiency in a sequential and controlled way.

The structure of the ISO 50001 certificates have been carefully designed facilitating it to merge with the other popular management systems of the industry. Thus, an Energy Management System (EnMS) perfectly blends with your existing management system(s).

ISO 50001 beginning stage is Pre-certification audit stage. It involves the organization's system evaluation by the certified Europeans auditors. The auditors ensure that the organizations in Jeddah meet at least the minimum requirement of the ISO 50001 standards.

Its second stage involves certification assessment. It means an in-depth analysis of the issues raised in the first stage by the European auditors. To find the solutions for the issue raised they have to go extensively deeper into the company's energy management system.

The I SO 50001 for certification on EnMs came into existence of an International Standard in June 2011 and now available in Jeddah from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for purchase.

ISO 50001 was developed by the ISO project committee as a global standard with the contribution of fifty-nine countries out of which fourteen were observers. ANSI served as co-Secretariat of PC 242, serving jointly with Brazil. Representatives from the U.S. Council for Energy-Efficient Manufacturing (U.S. CEEM) and U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) actively contributed to the U.S. Technical Advisory Group, the U.S. delegation to PC 242. The US TAG ensures the world-wide negotiation laying its emphasis on management support and energy performance.
